Garcia Conolon Rod Advertisements (NARMCO)

NARMCO - National Research and Manufacturing Company - started production in 1946 of the fiberglass fishing rod. In 1947 full production was in progress of what would become the Conolon Fishing Rod in 1960. For an article by Tim Barton telling a lot more of the story; visit our Mitchell Mates Discussion Group.

Charles Garcia & Company began their interest in fishing rods by selling rod guides, tips and especially agates in 1949/50. Below is what I was able to find so far by Garcia up to 1960 that helps tell the story. In 1960 Garcia purchased NARCO's rod manufacturing division under the name of The Conolon Corporation and changed the name of all rods to Conolon.

The 1960 ads are from a "supplement" Garcia Tackle catalog. These are very large images due to fine print. More years will be added as time permits.
